Hawthorne Staff Writer shawthorne@plu masnews.com The Dawn Gardens Apple Orchard was opened to the public Oct. 27 for the nonprofit's annual Apple Fest. Apple-lovers of all ages were let loose to glean in the orchard, and juice the fruits of their labor while enjoying the unique sounds of local bluegrass music. After gathering their share of apples, families spread out picnic blankets and enjoyed the cool autumn breeze while basking in the warm Indian Falls sun. Guests took turns producing fresh unadulterated juice by pressing the nectar out of bushels of free apples. Dawn Gardens hosted several outdoor activities including a slack-line and squash decorating. As a way to give back to the community, the full day of family fun Was provided completely free of charge.
