This.year the V.B.S. will be held from Wednesday, June 18, through Sunday, June 22, at the church building, 1182 Warner Valley Road, starting at 9 each morning. Parents are encouraged to take the free bus ride also. There will be Bible study, games, prizes, refreshments, singing and fun for ages 4 through teens. There will also be a class for parents included in the program. The famous "J.O.Y." bus, painted yellow with brown trim, will leave the church building at noon to return the riders to their homes, except on Sunday, when there will be a free barbeque in the church park. Photo submitted I I The Back Room Art Gallery is kicking off the summer season with featured work from three of its artists throughout the month of June. The artists to be featured are photographer Betty Bishop, a Chester native who is well-known for her local landscapes and detailed macros of old bottles, doorknobs and barns; Jacquie Cordova, of Westwood, who will be debuting a new line of hand-built raku pots and showing her latest in oil paintings featuring luscious greys, blacks and whites; and newcomer Beth Aitken, from Greenville, who will be sharing her unique wall art crafted with encaustic beeswax, collage and oil stick. A reception will be held June 14 to honor the featured artists, and allow guests the opportunity to meet with them.
