16A Wednesday, April 8, 2009 Chester Progressive, Westwood PinePress L3cal Medicare counselor going to health forum i Tatiana Fassieux, pro- gram manager for PAS- SAGES Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program, was invited to par- ticipate in the Western Re- gional White House Forum on Health Reform April 6. Fassieux will join Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Washington Governor Christine Gregoire and rep. resentatives from the Oba. ma administration. Last month, President Obama invited a bipartisan group of lawmakers, physi- cians, healthcare execu- tives, business leaders and Americans from across the country to the White House for a forum on health re- form. The president ex- pressed his intention to en- act comprehensive health reform by the end of the year. At the event, the president announced the White House would team with a biparti- san group of governors from around the country to host regional forums on health reform. California will host the last of five regional events held across the coun- try. The Western Regional White House Forum on Health Care Reform will identify concrete strategies to lower costs, expand cover. t age and improve the health of Americans. Fassieux has extensive knowledge of Medicare ben- efits, including Medicare Part D and Medicare Advan- tage plans. In addition to her duties as the HICAP manager for PASSAGES, she is also the board chair- woman of California Health Advocates, a statewide orga. nization dedicated to educa. tion and advocacy efforts for Medicare beneficiaries. Ac- cording to Fassieux, there is a consensus among many legislators and healthcare advocates that "any reform must include a government and private partnership, and build upon existing success- ful programs such as Medicare and Medicaid. For more than 20 years, PASSAGES has been dedi- cated to helping older adults and family caregivers lead healthier, happier lives by providing and supporting the critical services, refer- rals and community re- sources they need. Its pur- pose is to provide important services that span many seg- ments of the population, em- powering people to sustain independent lives. PAS- SAGES serves more than 10,000 people annually, with- in a nine-county region of Northern California. ! + LA.Z.BOY HI LEG WINGBACK RECLINER 288.
